We are very happy that the time when lighting was purely practical is over. In fact, lighting these days is now a question of good taste in successful decorating. The huge variety of lights and lamps available allow for giving new life to accessories as well as furniture that would remain sadly, in the shadows without the appropriate lighting.

Lighting is practically an indispensable tool when innovating with the ambiance and it is the final touch for emphasizing a particular room or an entire home. Using the reflection of a mirror can create an interesting effect. You will make the most of this idea if you hang the mirror so that it reflects the image of an eye-catching decorative object. In the living room, generally, there should be at least five (5) sources of lighting – diffused lighting and directional lamps allow you to obtain a balanced lighting for this most versatile room of the house. A dimmer will allow you to vary the intensity and create the required ambiance. The direction of spotlights should also be considered and planned. In the dining room it is important that a suspended lamp be hung at the adequate height: approximately 30 inches above the table, allowing the seated guests to easily see one another. Consider adding a small table lamp on the buffet table! A kitchen requires practical and versatile lighting such as: a ceiling light with a dimmer switch, recessed pot lights to illuminate the cabinets and the work surfaces and florescent tube lighting underneath the cabinets. In the bedroom, practical and comfortable lighting is called for. Many light sources can be used, such as: recessed pot lights directed towards the closet , one or two bedside lamps, sconces lights or abient wall lamps for the purpose of illuminating artwork and paintings.
